Praying The Right Way
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lust.” James 4:3 kjv
A lot of God’s children do wonder why their prayers are not answered. Most of our prayers are not born out of the right motive. When we pray it must be in accordance with the will of God for our lives.
When your prayer is against the will of God for your life, it means you are not praying right. When you lust for unnecessary things and you pray, asking God, to give them to you, God may not answer such prayers.
Jesus has to learn how to pray the right way in the garden of Gethsemane. Praying against the shameful death of the cross was not the right prayer for Jesus, because he would have forfeited the blessing and the glory that followed the cross.
Jesus finally accepted the will of God in his prayers. “ He went away again the second time, and prayed saying, Oh my father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done” Matthew 26 :12
The right way of praying is to discover the will of God for your life and pray that God’s will should be done in your life. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray and said among other things that we should say “thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven” Matthew 6:10.
Lord I thank you for revealing your will to me about prayer. Help me to discover your will for my life and teach me how to pray the right way so that I can have answered prayers in Jesus name AMEN.
